Lester Lee Mallory
Lester Lee Mallory, age 89, a resident of Chillicothe, MO, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at St. Luke’s Northland in Kansas City. Lester was born on June 7, 1927, the son of Jesse Grundy and Ola Mae (Tucker) Mallory in Harden. On April 5, 1952, he married Margarett Hogsett in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2006.
Lester served in the US Army during World War II. He worked as a Depot Agent for Milwaukee Railroad from 1944 until he retired in 1985. He was a member of the Chillicothe Elks Lodge. He was a master carpenter and gardener.
Lester is survived by his daughter, Laurie Mallory of Chillicothe; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Mallory of Braymer and Reva Mallory of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ron Mallory; sisters, Gertrude Padget, Lillie Mae Still, Felicia Felber, Beatrice McBee, Viola McGinnis, Billie Griffin, Genavene Mallory and Evalene Mallory; brothers, Tucker, Grundy, Howard and Wallace Mallory; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. There is no scheduled family visitation. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, March 17, from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the ALS Association, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
