Lura Victoria Sue Gibson

Vickie Sue Gibson, age 69, of Braymer, MO, passed away Monday, May 1, 2018, at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe. 

Lura Victoria Sue Gibson was born Aug. 18, 1948, in Red Oak, IA, the daughter of John Frederick Merryfield and Joeann Louise Erickson Merryfield. The family moved to Utica when she was young and she graduated from Southwest High School in Ludlow.

Vicki was dedicated to her work as a Certified Nursing Aide and Certified Med Tech at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer. She also worked at Midwest Glove in Chillicothe.

On March 16, 1976, Vickie married Gary Dale Gibson in Miami, OK. He survives of the home.

Vickie was a member of Utica Baptist Church. She loved to cook and bake for her family. She had a big heart and enjoyed helping others in need. Most of all being Meme to Ethan was her favorite pastime.

She is survived by her husband Gary Gibson of the home; son, Chad Merryfield of Braymer; grandson, Ethan Merryfield of Braymer; mother, Joeann Osborn (Robert) of Harrisonville; sister, Sheilah Ruppel of Chillicothe; mother-in-law, Viola Gibson of Chillicothe; sister-in-law, Merilyn Spears (Dennis) of Chillicothe; two brothers-in-law, Don Gibson (Caren) of Braymer and Nelson Gibson (Anne) of Anchorage, AK; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Vickie was preceded in death by her father, John Merryfield; sister, Nancy Rogers; father-in-law, Nelson Gibson; and brothers-in-law, Norman Gibson and Ricky Gibson.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Braymer Evergreen Cemetery on May 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. Memorials in honor of Vicki can be made to Chad Merryfield for Ethan Merryfield’s educational cost, and can be mailed to or left at Heritage Funeral Home, 3141 N. Washington, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.

Arrangements are under the care of Heritage Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
