Luther W. Hughes
Luther W. Hughes age 84, of Hamilton, formerly of Kidder and Raytown, passed away on April 2, 2022, at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton. Luther moved to Kidder in 1969 from Raytown.
Luther was born on July 7, 1937, in Keytesville, to Leland Jared and Molly Helen (Owens) Hughes. He graduated from the Keytesville High School in 1955. He worked for and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad working as a switchman. Luther was also a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Cameron, and his love was riding, training and showing horses.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his son-Timothy Jarred Hughes, and siblings-Betty (Wilburn) Frazier, Karlean (Russell) Smith, and L.J. Hughes.
On December 2, 1956, he married Vonnie Floray in Marceline, at the First Christian Church. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; daughters-Anita (Van) Dunham, Hamilton; and Shauna (Rick) Hughes, Chillicothe; 7 grandchildren-Kristine Hughes, Shatia (Jeremy) Winsch, Cheyenne Dunham, Matayla Hughes (Kenny Wilburn), Levi, Garrison, and Dakota Dunham; 4 great-grandchildren-Audrey and Colton Sykes, Dylan Hughes, and Makenna Wilburn; and sister-in-law-Kay Hughes.
Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Bible Baptist Church in Cameron.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 1 hour prior to the service, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bible Baptist Church.
