Margaret Eleanor WeMott
Margaret Eleanor WeMott, age 95, a resident of Raytown, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016.
She was born on Oct. 24, 1920, to T. W. Dugan Reed and Esther E. Reed. Eleanor, as she was called by her family and friends, grew up on her family farm in Breckenridge. She attended Park College in Parkville, where she played on the basketball team. In 1949, she married Harold H. WeMott, and spent the next 20 years as a homemaker and volunteer. She later worked as a saleswoman at Swanson’s Department Store on the Country Club Plaza.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Basso; her parents; and her brothers, Charles Reed and Phil Reed.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Stone, of Edmond, OK; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at the First Christian Church in Edmond, OK. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Breckenridge. Friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Pitts Funeral Home in Breckenridge. Arrangements are under the direction of Pitts Funeral Home in Breckenridge.
