Mark Carter

Mark Carter, age 61, of Polo, MO, entered eternal life peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Aug. 30, 2016. Mark entered this life Sept. 23, 1954, the son of Doris and Imogene O’Kelly Carter in Braymer. He attended Polo schools growing up and lived the last 25 years in Polo.

On April 4, 1992 he was united in marriage to Teresa Vanwormer at the First Christian Church in Polo. Mark worked for Ford Motor Company for 32 years, retiring as a water test inspector. He was a member of the Polo American Legion Post #557, the UAW Local #249, and the First Christian Church of Polo. Mark served his country in the US Army from 1972 until 1974.

Mr. Carter leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of the home; father and mother; daughter, Stephanie Harris of Kansas City; son, Shawn Harris of Kansas City; sister, Glenda (Richard) Lana of Polo; sister, Beverly Traylor of Cameron; nephew, Jason Lana of Kansas City; niece, Rachel (John) Nichols of Polo; and nephew, Jimmie Gorham of Cameron. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Stith Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Polo. A graveside service will follow the visitation with full military honors at Prairie Ridge Cemetery in Polo. Pastor Wally Aubrey will be officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home starting after 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Flowers are appreciated and memorials are suggested to Liberty Hospital Hospice in Liberty, in memory of Mark Carter.
