Mary “June” Martin

Mary “June” Martin, age 90, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer.

June was born the daughter of Roscoe and Katie (Graham) Heavner on May 20, 1927, in Caldwell County, Missouri. She was a 1945 graduate of Braymer High School. She was united in marriage to Dean Martin on August 13, 1946, in Kansas City. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1998.

June worked as a secretary for William Jewell College in Liberty for many years. She was a member of the Investment Club and a book club. She enjoyed animals, aqua aerobics, lake life and spending her winters in Florida. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda La Rocca (John) of Kansas City; five grandchildren, Piper Wilson, Paige Wilson, Anthony La Rocca (Molly), Allison La Rocca, and Dominic La Rocca; one great-grandchild, Kana Moorman; two brothers, Bruce Graham Heavner of Liberty and Jim Heavner of Cameron; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; and one sister, Judith Ann Bruns.

Funeral services were held at the Braymer United Methodist Church in Braymer on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017. A scheduled family visitation was held at the church one hour prior to the service.
