Mary Ann Kresse age 93, of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2024, at her home in Kingston.
Mary Ann was born on July 5, 1930, in Kingston to Russell and Edna Hill. She graduated from Kingston High School at 16 and then attended Central Missouri State University during the summers. After her first summer at CMSU with 11 credits, she began her teaching career at Frog Pond, a one room school building near Cowgill. She then taught at other local schools including Mirabile, Kingston, Cowgill and New York. Mary Ann officially retired from teaching in 1979.
On Aug. 13, 1950, Mary Ann married Edgar Burnett of Mirabile and they lived in California for two years. They then moved back to the Kingston/Mirabile area. She later married Karle Kresse on June 2, 1974.
Mary Ann was a life-long active member of the First Baptist Church of Kingston. During her life, Mary Ann had many jobs and hobbies. She owned her own restaurant in Kingston for a few years, worked at Nickerson Farms Restaurant and later helped run the filling station in Kingston with her husband, Karle. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, mowing her yard, gardening, doing puzzles and going to their cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Karle, preceded her in death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Robert Hill and sister, Bonnie Gay.
Survivors include children Mark (Annette) Burnett, Kingston; Ryland (Ally) Burnett, Cameron; and Beverly (John) Deis, Kingston; step-daughter Kim (Ron) Clark, Cameron; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Celebration of Life Service was held at 11 a.m., Tues., Jan. 23, 2024, at the Kingston First Baptist Church.
Visitation was held from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Mon., Jan. 22, 2024, at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton, MO.
Interment: Highland Cemetery, Hamilton, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of Bram Funeral Home, 208 E. School St., Hamilton, MO 64644.
