Mary Helen Thompson

Mary Helen Thompson, age 86, a resident of Chillicothe, MO, passed away at her residence in Chillicothe, on Wesnesday, Nov. 9, 2016.

She was born on Mar. 2, 1930, the daughter of Wallace Taylor and Edna Marie (Case) Hooker in Livingston County. She was married to William Edward Thompson on Nov. 5, 1955, in the Ward Presbyterian Church. She was a 1948 graduate of the Chillicothe RII High School. Immediately following graduation, she was hired by the Chillicothe School District to begin her career in office work. She later retired after twenty years from the Missouri State Employment Office as a Technician.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. She was also a RSVP member, a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Grand River Historical Society Museum.

She is survived by her husband, William E. “Bill” Thompson, of the home; four children, twins Debby Kay Busking of Norman, OK and Eddy Ray Thompson of Springfield, Angela Lea Warren of Kansas City, and Carolyn Grace Greenwood of Breckenridge; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles R. Hooker of Mountain Home, AR and Zachary T. Hooker of Griggsville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wesley and Raymond Hooker; two sisters, Mildred L. Rensch and Dixie L. Bohn; two brothers-in-law, and a niece.

Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 3:30 p.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the church on Friday, Nov. 11, from 5:00 p.m until 6:30 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Friday, Nov. 11, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe.
