Mary Joan Foley

Mary Joan Foley, age 81, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer. Joan was born the daughter of Willard Benton and Myrtle (Elam) North on Jan. 15, 1934, in rural Dawn. She was united in marriage to Hugh Ed “Hoot” Foley on Sept. 17, 1948. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2011.

She retired from Conagra Foods after 35 years, where she developed deep friendships that are still ongoing. Joan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Braymer and of the Keenagers Sunday School Class. She was a close friend to the members of her class and spent hours outside of church in fun activities with them. “Mema”, as she was lovingly called by her family, loved reading the Bible, listening to Christian music and watching Christian television, traveling, spending time with her many friends, cooking, quilting, and BUYING numerous items at garage sales and thrift stores. Most of all she loved her family and they adored her. Vacations spent in Branson with her family were treasured events for the entire family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband “Hoot”; son, Donny Foley; brother, Melvin North, Sr.; nephew Terry North, and a great grandchild, Danielle Clark.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Jo Null (Roger) of Breckenridge; son, Ronald Dale Foley (Joyce) of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Judy Foley, of Braymer; grandchildren, Staci Lynn Wood (Kenneth), Dustin Shane Null (Rhonda), Sandy Jo Clark (Jeff), James Boone Foley, Jessica Michelle Hagan (Chad), and Joshua Morgan Foley; great-grandchildren, Kendra Wood, Tyler Wood, Kaylea Wood, Katie Wood, Daniel Null, Garrett Null, Kelsie Quinn, Christian Wells, Michael Clark, Shannon Clark, Tiffany Clark, Deanna Foley, and Jaymie Foley; and seven great-great grandchildren. Nephews, Bill Foley (Sally) and Melvin North, Jr. (Carol), and granddaughter, Lisa Foley were special to her as well as her other nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Braymer on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Braymer. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Missions Fund, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
