Mary Starcev

Mary Starcev, age 80, of Polo, Mo., entered eternal life June 10, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mary entered this life April 20, 1936, the daughter of James and Velma Cummings.

Mary lived in Kansas City most of her life until moving to Polo 11 years ago. Mary had several careers over her lifetime; however she worked a number of years for Avon and owning/operating her own Kansas City Star delivery route. Mary had a heart of gold and would help anyone (human or animal) in any way she could. She was a hard worker that was devoted to her family. Mary loved to cook for her family. She had a green thumb and was well known for her gardening abilities.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sibling.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Bruce) Trammell of Polo and JoAnn Brassfield of San Tan Valley, AZ; sons, Jim (Jennifer) Starcev of Leawood, KS and Mike (Crystal) Starcev of Independence; sisters, Sally Hull of Springfield and Joyce (Jon) Christensen of Port Aransas, TX; brothers, Calvin (Cathy) Cummings of Hillsdale Lake, KS and Charley Cummings of Hillsdale Lake, KS. Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff), Katie (Lynard), Sean, Robert, Marley, Nate, Elle, Dylan and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Maddy, Katelyn and Lincoln; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016, at noon at the Polo First Baptist Church in Polo (110 E. Elm Street). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A lunch will be served at the church following services. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Prairie Ridge Cemetery in Polo.
