Misty Dawn Kapitza

Misty Dawn Kapitza, age 36, of Polo, Mo., passed away on March 6, 2017, as the result of a car accident in Caldwell County. Misty had moved to Polo in 2010, and she had previously lived in many areas of the country including Bakersfield, CA.

Misty was born on Jan. 12, 1981, in Bakersfield, CA, to Jerry Don and WenDee (Hogue) Kapitza. She graduated from the Arvin, CA, high school, and then attended Bakersfield College, taking classes with an emphasis in agriculture. She then served her country in the US Army working as a MP from 2001-2003. After her service, she attended Thompson University and earned her certificate in pet grooming and training.

Misty was an animal lover. She and her husband owned and operated TAK farms at their home, and she also owned and operated her own pet grooming shop called Polo Pups. Misty was involved in numerous animal rescues and helped establish the Far West 4-H Club in Polo. She and her son, Tate, were very active in the Caldwell County 4-H program.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

On Dec. 3, 2002, she married her husband, Aaron Ghering, in Tacoma, WA. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include her son, Tate Andrew Kapitza, of the home; two stepchildren, Brock Andrew Ghering and Donna Michelle Ghering, both of Bakersfield, CA; parents, Jerry and WenDee Kapitza of Linneus; sisters, Jennifer Saxton of Antioch, CA and Brandy Kapitza Gunter of Linneus; brother, Charles Kapitza of Bakersfield, CA; and six nieces and nephews.

Misty has been cremated under the direction of Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Linneus United Methodist Church, 308 N. High Street, Linneus, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an educational fund for her son, Tate, or to the Far West 4-H Club, Polo, MO, both in care of the funeral home.
