Nancy Sue Sprague

Nancy Sue Sprague, age 77, of McFall, MO, passed away April 4, 2016, at Northwest Medical Center. She was born Dec. 21, 1938 near McFall, the daughter of Floyd and Pauline (Lupfer) Parks.

She attended McFall School all but her senior year, when the students were transferred to the Pattonsburg School where she graduated. During her high school years at McFall, Nancy fell in love with her sweetheart, Gerald “Bud” Sprague and they married on Nov. 9, 1956. They spent their entire life living in the McFall-Pattonsburg area. The family grew to include: Debra Sue, Ronald Gene, Benny Paul and Amy Marie. Debra Sue died in infancy and Ron passed away in 1976.

Nancy was a family person, staying home to raise her family. Later, she was employed by the Pattonsburg Cap Factory, then the McFall Senior Center, where she loved to cook and meet with the public. Sewing, crafts, and gardening were among Nancy’s activities. She enjoyed flowers, especially iris’ and red roses which were her favorites. Watching the birds at the bird feeder became one of her favorite pastimes. Nancy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She loved bowling, and the cabinet of trophies and patches show the fun her and Bud obtained. Watching sports, especially basketball and baseball, kept her entertained. She was a “true blue” Royals fan and spent many minutes arguing with the umpires on TV. Every Royals game, she put on her Royals shirt that great-grandson Gavin gave her to support her team.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; children, Debbie and Ron; sister, Betty; and brother, George.

Survivors include children, Benny (Jeanette) Sprague of Pattonsburg and Amy (Lysander) Overstreet of Hamilton; grandchildren, Jessica (Jack) Buntin, Valerie (Dewain) Colvin, Trisha Sprague and friend Trent, Derrick Sprague and friend Amber, Kellen and Rauni Overstreet; great-grandchildren, Corey Comer, Chelsea and Charity Buntin, Alicia and Austin Colvin, Gavin Wilmes, Izabella and Khyler Sprague; sister, Mildred; brother-in-law, Kenny Popplewell; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, at Roberson Funeral Home in Bethany. Inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to McFall Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
