Nancy Sue (Toomay) McPheeters

Nancy Sue McPheeters, age 81, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer.

Nancy was born the daughter of Michael Joseph and Mary Donna (Malotte) Toomay on July 23, 1934, in Braymer. She graduated from Braymer High School in 1951. She attended the University of Missouri in Columbia and was on the Dean’s Honor Roll. On Nov. 27, 1952, she was united in marriage to Roger E. McPheeters. He survives of the home. To this union five children were born.

Nancy was a homemaker on the family farm, substitute teacher and paraprofessional at Breckenridge High School and Hardin High School. She was a 4-H leader for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Lions Club, UMW, McBee Chapel, and then later the Braymer Methodist Church. She was past president of the Tuesday Study Club, Pinochle Club, and Braymer Lions Club. She enjoyed music, reading, cooking, knitting, traveling, and sports activities.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devout Christian, who enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Nancy was generous with a quiet strength.

Survivors include her husband, Roger McPheeters of the home; five children, Cindy Sue Rogers (Joe) of Braymer, Roger L. McPheeters (Colleen) of Wardsville, Steve K. McPheeters (Connie) of Liberty, Mary L. Dake (Ritchie) of Henley, and Craig McPheeters (Kristina) of Braymer; grandchildren, Candacea Steele (Steve), Kent Rogers (Katy), Rachelle Rogers, Blake McPheeters (Stacy), Bret McPheeters (Ashley), Brooke McPheeters, Warren Hays (Melody Stratton), and Lana Bashore (Brandon), Melanie Abbett (Kenny), Delaney McPheeters, and Carsyn McPheeters; great-grandchildren, Auhnna, Caitlyn, Alissa, Gabe, Caden, Karissa, Clay, Khloe, Kaje, Rylee, Jackson, Avery, Olivia, and Mikenna; and sister-in-law, Carol Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Karl Carrick Toomay; grandson, Kyle Rogers; bother-in-law, Alvin McPheeters; and sister-in-law, Marcia Lee.

Funeral services will be held at the Braymer United Methodist Church in Braymer on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Monday, May 2, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer Lions Club and/or the Braymer Methodist Church, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P. O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
