Nancy Sue Wright

Nancy Sue Wright, age 82, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Wednesday Oct. 31, 2017, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

 

Nancy was born the daughter of Forest L. and Vertie (Black) Dean on Nov. 4, 1934, in Dearborn.  She was a 1952 graduate of Dearborn High School. Nancy played basketball for the Dearborn Hornets on the 1952 Championship team. She graduated from Christian College in Columbia, in 1956, obtaining her Associates in Arts Degree. 

She began her career at Prudential Insurance Company in Kansas City in 1956. This is where she met longtime friend Sammie Heavner. Sammie and Bruce Heavner set Nancy up on a blind date after much encouragement with a tall handsome Braymer boy. On March 9, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Wright in Dearborn. Into this union God blessed them with four children, Deana, Donna, Lyndel and Loren. In 1965, Don and Nancy moved the family from Kansas City to begin a dairy farm and Wright Tax Service in Braymer. Nancy was a bookkeeper and secretary for over 50 years. After 12 years of farming the family moved into town. 

Nancy was very active in the Braymer Community and held in many leadership roles. She was always willing to help in any way with her gentle, kind and loving touch. Nancy was a member of the American Legion Post #117 Ladies Auxiliary, P.E.O., Braymer Chamber of Commerce, Tuesday Study Club, United Methodist Women, Tobbin Valley Club, The Red Hat Society, Braymer Historical Society, a 4-H leader and Sunday school teacher. She was an active member of the Braymer United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include two daughters, Deana Osgood (Kirk) of Chaska, MN and Donna Wright of Liberty; two sons, Charles Lyndel Wright (Wendy) of Springfield and Loren Eugene Wright (Bobbie) of Kearney; eight grandchildren, Abigail, Anthony, and John Andrew Viszlay, Lauren Thompson and Isaac Brizendine, Kassandra Wright, and Halle and Hayden Wright; and two great-grandchildren, Alexia Viszlay and Paxton Thompson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald Wright, on June 18, 2011.

A celebration of life will be held at the Braymer United Methodist Church in Braymer on Saturday Nov. 4, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. A family visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer United Methodist Church and/or P.E.O. Cottey College, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601. Online condolences may be left at www.lindleyfuneralhome.com.
