Nora Florette Pittman
Nora Florette Pittman, age 89, a resident of Breckenridge, MO, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Chillicothe.
Nora was born the daughter of Zane and Bama Florella (Kelsey) Oliver on April 23, 1926, in Puxico. She was united in marriage to Martin Howard Pittman on March 8, 1947, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2009. Nora enjoyed singing, sewing, gardening, and writing letters. She also enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She began teaching Sunday School and singing for the church at the age of 16. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Breckenridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin Howard Pittman; five brothers, Adell, Austin, Marvin, Fred, and Charles; one sister, Jewell Brooks; and one great-grandson, Hunter Joel Fidler.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Burns of Ozark, Donna Pittman of Republic, and Rebecca “Becky” Pittman of Gwynn’s Island, VA; four sons, Martin David Pittman of Republic, Nova Pittman of Garland, TX, Tom Pittman of Chillicothe, and Jon Pittman of Chillicothe; two sisters, June Thebeau of St. Louis and Florella Lambert of Scottsboro, Al; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Pitts Funeral Home in Breckenridge on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. A scheduled family visitation will be held at the funeral home in Breckenridge on Friday, Aug. 21, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 21, from noon until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Breckenridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
