Opal M. Potts

Opal Mae Potts, age 81, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on Aug. 5, 2017, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron.

Opal was born on Aug. 29, 1935, in Caldwell County east of the Far West community to Calvin S. and Ethel M. (Thompson) Burnett. She graduated in 1953 from the Hamilton high school, and then she attended Guard Business School in St. Joseph. After graduation, she worked at the stockyards exchange in St. Joseph, and for an insurance company before beginning her job at Cameron Mutual Insurance in Cameron, where she worked from 1962 until retiring in 1998. She worked at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cameron from 2002 until just recently.

Opal was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hamilton and the church’s Alter Society. Opal, in the past, was also a member of the Young Farm Wives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Connie.

Opal married Lawrence C. Potts, Jr. (Junior) on May 26, 1962, in Hamilton at the Catholic Church, and they were married for 55 years. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include a son, Steven Potts of Hamilton and his fiancée, Jenna Clemens and her son, Steven Potts; brother, Kenneth (Elaine) Burnett of Kingston; and three nieces, Mickie Cummings of Hamilton, Kendra Tiemann of LaGrange, and Karen Grimes of Osborn.

Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Kenney Cemetery in Kidder. www.bramfuneralservices.com
