Peggy L. Clodfelter

Peggy L. Clodfelter passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, in Lincoln, NE, at the age of 67.

She was born the daughter of Leslie Arnold and Hollis Ellen (McVay) Makings on July 7, 1949, in St. Joseph, MO.

Peggy attended Rock Port High School in Rock Port, graduating in 1967. She graduated in 1971 from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. In 1980, she graduated from Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and in 1989, from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg with a Master’s degree in Reading Specialization.

On Sept. 25, 1971, Peggy was united in marriage to Duane Clodfelter at the Rock Port United Methodist Church. They made their home in Rock Port.

In 1973, they moved to Braymer and became the parents of Davan and Damon. Peggy taught at Cowgill Elementary, Southwest Livingston County and Hardin-Central schools. For 27 years, Peggy was also an elementary teacher and Title One Reading Specialist for the Braymer School District, retiring in 2006.

Peggy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Braymer. Duane and Peggy took care of the Braymer Playground Association from 1978 until 1991. She was active in the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and helped Duane with the Braymer Lions Club.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Jerry Wood.

Survivors include her husband, Duane Clodfelter of Seward, NE; sons, Davan Clodfelter of Goehner, NE and Damon Clodfelter of Warrensburg; two grandchildren; two siblings, Ellen Wood of Joplin and Richard Makings of Rock Port; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Grace Church in Rock Port. A visitation was held on Friday at the Minter Funeral Chapel at Rock Port. Interment was at Hunter Cemetery in Rock Port. Memorials may be made to the Rock Port Senior Center or Braymer Lions Club.
