Raymond Leon Woods

Raymond Leon Woods age 81, of rural Braymer, died early Thursday morning, April 14, 2022, at his home.

Raymond was born on Feb. 3, 1941, in Braymer, the son of Orville and Helen (Anderson) Woods, Jr.  He was united in marriage to Carolyn Jean Hawkins of Braymer on June 23, 1977; she survives of the home.

Raymond was reared and educated in the area of his birth.  After receiving his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, during Vietnam.  Raymond had several jobs before going into farming; one of those jobs was working at the quarry in Breckenridge, where he met his wife, Carolyn.  He farmed most of his life, raising cattle and hogs and growing crops.  Raymond was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He especially loved coon hunting and coyote hunting with his buddies.  Raymond raised his own hunting dogs.  He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Stet.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Additional survivors include; son, David Milligan of Braymer; four daughters: Vicki (Mike) O’Dell of Braymer, Sherry (Mark) Geisinger of Belton, Tammy Blacklock of Edgewood, TX, and Julie Woods of San Antonio, TX; 12 Grandchildren: Mindy O’Dell, Brooke O’Dell, Lori O’Dell, Alysia (Jason) Meek, Serina (Zach) Harvey, Luke (Teresa) Geisinger, Isaac (Tina) Geisinger, Erin Parsons, Derek (Samantha) Parsons, Creed (Taylor) Hudson, Lyrik Hunter, and Greyson Blacklock; and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Woods, and Bill Woods.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Brethren.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer.  Please remember to share your memories of Raymond with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
