Richard "Ricky Lee" Bassett
Richard “Ricky Lee” Bassett, age 68, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron.
Ricky was born on April 13, 1949, in Garden City, KS, to Loren and Betty (Hubbard) Bassett. He was a 1968 Hamilton Penney High School graduate. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and retired from the military in 1991 after 23 years of service to his country. After retirement from the military, he worked for Charlie Ford Trenching and Backhoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Florence Daniel and Barbara Stanton.
On May 25, 2002, he married Robin South at their home in Hamilton. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include his brother, Robert Gordon (Denise) Bassett of Bogard; two daughters, Sheryl Bassett and Erica Gates, both of St. Joseph; three grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; stepson, Ira Savely of Phoenix, AZ; aunt, Doris Herron of Topeka, KS; in-laws, Donald and Norma South of Kidder; brothers-in-law, Floyd (Lonnie) South of Newport News, VA, and David (Wendy) South of Grand Island, NE; and his dog, Puppy Joe.
Cremation has been entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Hamilton American Legion Post #285, the Hamilton Police Department Annual Fishing Day for Kids, or the Caldwell County Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund. www.bramfuneralservices.com
