Robert “Bob” McPheeters

Robert “Bob” McPheeters, age 77, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 4, 2018, at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit. Bob was born on Sept. 29, 1941, the son of Russell and Merle (Blodwin) McPheeters in Cowgill. He was a 1959 graduate of Polo High School. On Dec. 8, 1962, he was united in marriage to Patricia Stratton at the Cowgill United Methodist Church. 

He worked various positions for Western Electric, which later became AT&T for over 30 years. Bob was a member of the Pioneer’s Club and the Cowgill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and spending time with his granddaughters. Bob was intelligent, gentle and soft spoken, but solid as they come. Bob trusted everyone. He would help anyone and he always had a smile on his face. He was a great mechanic; he could build or fix anything and even built racecars in high school. Bob enjoyed spending time on the farm near Cowgill.

Mr. McPheeters was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Emily Sue Pollard, and other extended family members.

Survivors include his wife, Pat of the home; daughter, Belinda Ann Barr (Kenneth) of Springfield; granddaughters Jennifer Coffman (Steve) of Springfield and Erica Barr of Kansas City; great-grandchildren, Aleczander and Isabel Coffman; sister, Betty Mason of Cowgill; and other extended family.

Bob was a friend to many and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo with Rev. Kyle Stith, officiating. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services with burial at Cowgill Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cowgill Cemetery Association or the Cowgill United Methodist Church in loving memory of Robert “Bob” McPheeters.
