Robert G. Johnson

Robert Granderson Johnson, age 59, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.

Bob was born the son of Robert William and Laura Nell (Collins) Johnson on Aug. 1, 1956, in Chillicothe. As a young boy, Bob spent many hours working at the farm with his father and brother. He continued working as a farmer his entire life. He was a 1974 graduate of Braymer High School in Braymer. He was united in marriage to Brenda O’Dell on Aug. 16, 1975, at the Norborne Baptist Church in Norborne. She survives of the home. Bob purchased a bass guitar and taught himself to play; this began his love for music. Bob was a member of the J-Street Band, Abundant Grace, and the Rhythm Riders. Over the years he has had many jam sessions. Bob met many people while a member of the bands and never met a stranger. He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, hunting, hot rod cars, collecting guns, and had a love for animals.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Johnson, of the home; one daughter, Leslie Johnson and grandpuppy Ammo, of Parkville; mother Laura Nell Johnson of Carrollton; one brother, Michael Johnson and Dianna Smith of Carrollton; two sisters, Marjorie Pollard (Eric) of Braymer and Laurie Hudson (Greg) of Cape Coral, FL; brother-in-law, Bobbie O’Dell of Cameron; brother-in-law, Mike O’Dell (Vicki) of Braymer; sister-in-law, Angie Cringan (Tim) of Richmond; eight nieces; four nephews; ten great-nieces; and seven great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert William Johnson; one son, Landon William Johnson; and nephew, Bradley Cringan.

Funeral services were held at the Braymer Christian Church in Braymer on Monday, March 21. A scheduled family visitation was held at the Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Sunday, March 20. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Johnson Memorial Fund, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
