Robert Lee Shaney

Robert Lee Shaney, age 90, of Nettleton, MO, passed away Nov. 27, 2015, at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Hamilton. He was born on June 10, 1925, to Ernest Christian and Oleva Irene Alexander Shaney and lived in this area all of his life.

He attended school in Nettleton and Hamilton, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1943. He was a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. He married Beulah Faye Perryman on Nov. 28, 1943, in Marysville, CA. To this union, two children were born, Linda L. and Galen L. Shaney.

While serving in the Army during WWII, he was deployed to New Guinea. After the war, he returned to Nettleton and joined his father in Shaney’s Garage as a mechanic. Later he became owner/salesman of Shaney Motor Company and Shaney Insurance Company.

Bob enjoyed being with his family, hunting and fishing, as well as flying his private co-owned plane. He was an ordained deacon, serving at the Nettleton and Hamilton Baptist churches as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and trustee. He did volunteer work with Campers on Missions, working on projects in Missouri and Texas. His volunteer work also included the Caldwell County Theater and Arts Council.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #285 in Hamilton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Linda L. Ford; son, Galen L. Shaney; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Shaney.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Faye, of the home; son-in-law, William H. Ford (Debby) of Hamilton; grandsons, Brian Ford (Holly) of Columbia, Zach Ford (Alisha) of Clinton, and Samuel Shaney; granddaughters, Sarah Shaney and Celeste Shaney, all of Austin, TX; great-grandsons, Noah, Easton and Owen Ford; and great-granddaughters, Caroline and Larkyn Ford.

Cremation was entrusted to Bram Funeral Home in Hamilton. A funeral memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 5, at the Hamilton Baptist Church. Inurnment will be at Highland Cemetery in Hamilton. Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Baptist Church or the Caldwell County Arts. Online condolences may be left at www.bramfuneralservices.com.
