Robert Von "Rob" Gentry

Robert Von "Rob" Gentry, age 70, a lifelong resident of Polo, MO, entered eternal life Friday, March 3, 2017, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, surrounded by his loving family.

Rob entered this life on Jan. 5, 1947, the son of Von and Mary (Corbett) Gentry in Kansas City. Mr. Gentry was a 1965 graduate of Polo High School. On Feb. 6, 1971, he was united in marriage to Judy Pollard at Prairie Ridge Church in Polo.

Mr. Gentry worked for the Rockford Township as the Road Maintenance Supervisor for 51 years. He started right out of high school and retired this past January. Rob also farmed all of his life. He was dedicated to his church, community, family and the Lord Jesus Christ, evidenced by the way he lived his life. Rob was a man of integrity and well respected by all who knew him. Mr. Gentry served on the Polo R-7 Board of Education for six years and the Prairie Ridge Cemetery Board. He also served as an Elder at the Prairie Ridge Church for many years, where he was baptized and a lifelong member.  Rob loved to hunt. He also collected miniature tractors and Caterpillar equipment. His family describes him as a man of few words. 

Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his father, Von Gentry and grandson, Nicholas Von Gentry.

Those left to mourn his passing are his mother, Mary Gentry of Polo; wife, Judy Gentry of the home; two sons, Jeff Gentry (Kelli) and Scott Gentry, both of Polo; brother, Steve Gentry of Polo; sister, Linda Kay Pitman (Joe) of Polo; grandchildren, Lily and Maverick Gentry of Polo; granddaughter, Kelsi Pile of Kansas City; grandson, Jack Pile of Fort Meyers, FL; aunt, Jean Gentry of Mirable; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Prairie Ridge Church west of Polo, with Pastor Mike Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at the church. Burial will follow at the Prairie Ridge Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated and memorial gifts are suggested to Prairie Ridge Church in loving memory of Rob Gentry. Serving the family and arrangements are under the direction of Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo.
