Shelia Oyler, Updated Obituary

Sheila Oyler age 67, of Hardin, MO, passed away suddenly at North Kansas City Hospital on Dec. 10, 2021.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1954, in Brookfield, the daughter of Keith and Laverne (Reynolds) Stark.  She was united in marriage to David Lee Oyler of Hardin on November 3, 1974; he survives of the home.

She graduated from Brookfield High School in 1972.  She earned her Associates Degree from Central Missouri State University in 1974.  Sheila worked for a short time for the City of Richmond, before beginning her 37-year career at Ray County Memorial Hospital in the accounting and payroll department, where she was currently working.  She was a 4-H leader for many years, loved sewing, doing crochet, cross-stitching, word searches, reading, and watching Hallmark movies.  Sheila’s children and grandchildren were the biggest part of her life; she never missed any of her children's sporting events or other activities; she made sure to attend special events for family and friends.  She loved seeing her children become parents and being a grandmother to them.  Sheila loved hummingbirds, flowers, family game night, and other gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Steve Stark, brother-in-law, Rick Oyler, sister-in-law, Carolyn Pugh, and brother-in-law, Wayne Pugh.

Additional survivors include her children: James (Angie) Oyler of Lee’s Summit, Anita (Terry) Nwosuocha of Houston, TX, Alicia (Brandon) Lam of Hardin, and Allison (Kyle) Cox of Richmond.  She was a grandmother to Kyrie Nwosuocha, Amara Nwosuocha, Paisley Lam, Kayden Cox, Maguire Moore, Avery Moore, and a granddaughter on the way; two brothers, Kenny (Marty) Stark of Brookfield; and Eddie (Terri) Stark of Lathrop; three sisters, Shirley (Rodney) Wright of Marceline, Rita (John) Rodriquez of Polo, Penny Williams of St. Joseph, and sister-in-law, Judy Stark; two brother-in-laws Donnie (Sandy) Oyler of Braymer, Jaime (Ella) Oyler of Lee's Summit; 3 sister-in-laws, Jeanne (Steve) Pulliam of Richmond, Janet (Kenny) McNelley of Hardin, Cathy (Ron) Sadler of Liberty, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Ray County Memorial Hospital or the Antioch Cemetery.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2021, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest following services in Antioch Cemetery, north of Hardin.  Please remember to share your memories of Sheila by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
