Taylor Hunt Finley

Taylor Hunt Finley, age 27, of Stet, MO, lost the battle but won the victory on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017.

Taylor was born on May 2, 1990, in Chillicothe, to David and Melanie (Hunt) Finley, where he joined his older sister Tara (Finley) Murray in Stet.

Taylor was a graduate of Braymer C-4 High School, Class of 2008. After graduation, Taylor attended college at UCM and Missouri Western. He was a lifelong member of the Braymer Christian Church. His passion for music grew as he became involved in the BCC Praise Band. His other passions included hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, writing songs, playing at Kelly’s, cheering on his favorite teams, the Braymer Bobcats, Chiefs, Royals, and Mizzou, as well as anything that would make memories with his family and friends.

Taylor is waiting at the gates of Heaven for his parents, David and Melanie (Hunt) Finley; sister and brother-in-law Tara (Finley) and Matt Murray; fiancée Lauren Upton; Grandpa Otto Finley; aunts and uncles, Danny Finley, Dale Finley, Doug Finley, Ronald and Cheryl Hunt, Pat Hunt, Maureen Hunt, Carol Hunt; and his many beloved cousins.

He will be reunited in Heaven with grandparents Claudean Finley, Roscoe and Emma Hunt; aunts and uncles, Donnie Bob Finley, Basil Hunt, George Hunt, Donald Hunt, Betty (Hunt) and Gene Thomas. Taylor will be singing in the angelic choir with Marshall Phillips and Jeremy Jeffers.

In Nov. 2015, Taylor was diagnosed with Stage 4 Synovial Sarcoma. Taylor courageously went through numerous chemotherapy treatments, radiation, clinical trials, and surgeries. Throughout his journey, his faith never wavered. Taylor lived every day to its fullest. He was selfless, kind, and was an encouragement to all who knew and loved him. Taylor’s faith was a testimony in his walk with Jesus, knowing God was always in control.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at the Braymer C-4 High School in Braymer. A visitation will take place on Friday, Sept. 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Christian Church in Braymer. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Christian Church in Braymer, or to the “NYR” National Youth Roundup.
