Virginia Lee (Cox) Basham

Virginia Lee (Cox) Basham

Virginia Lee (Cox) Basham, age 85, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at her home surrounded by family.

Virginia was born Oct. 3, 1931, to Thomas and Lottie (Phillips) Cox, in Braymer. She was a graduate of Braymer High School, class of 1949. She promptly married Donald Basham of Cowgill, and they were married nearly 64 years prior to his passing in 2013.

She enjoyed her career as a grocery store clerk at Schoellers in Liberty, Just Rite, Ball's White Front and Ball's Super Foods grocery stores in Kansas City. Her job allowed her to make acquaintances and form friendships she enjoyed long after she retired in 1979.

Virginia filled her days reading, cooking, going to garage sales, and most of all she loved the time spent with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Blanca) Basham of Kansas City; her daughter, Cindy Kocyon of Kansas City; grandchildren, Pam Opoka, Monica McCall, Mike Basham, Cody Kocyon, and Jake Kocyon; and eight great-grandchildren, all of Kansas City.

Virginia and her family very much appreciated the caring staff at Shoal Creek Dialysis Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions go to the National Kidney Foundation. Share online condolences at TerraceParkFuneral.com.
