William Arthur “Bill” Brooke

William Arthur “Bill” Brooke, age 90, a resident of Braymer, MO, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty.

William was born the son of Charles and Eva Viola (Pence) Brooke on Jan. 5, 1931, in Norborne. He was a 1949 graduate of New York High School, in New York, Missouri. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1952 until 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Tucker on Nov. 10, 1955, in Braymer. She preceded him in death on Oct. 19, 1977. William was a farmer, and worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 30 years. He enjoyed driving his ranger around the farm, raising his lambs and sheep, and attending cornhusking competitions. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Brooke (Lisa) of Braymer and David Brooke of Cowgill; one daughter, Dawn Floyd (Tim) of Braymer; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles Brooke, Edwin Brooke, James Brooke, and Lloyd Brooke; and two sisters, Margurite McCary, and Eloise Gilgour.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; one granddaughter, Dana Brooke; one brother, Leonard Brooke; and three sisters, Dorothy Hiatt, Shirley Curtis, and Rose Brooke.

Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Braymer on Thursday, January, 28, at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer on Wednesday, January 27, from noon until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Braymer Junior Livestock Show, and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
