Willie K. “Bill” Clevenger

Willie K. “Bill” Clevenger, of Hamilton, MO, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, from dementia/alzheimer complications. Bill was born on Jan. 21, 1935, in Kansas City, KS, to Willie K. and Hazel (Mitchell) Clevenger.

Bill graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1954 in Kansas City, KS, and attended Kansas City University School of Pharmacy. On Sept. 30, 1968, he married Erma Dungan in Nowata, OK. They lived in Kansas City North until moving to Hamilton in 1971.

He worked for Olin Mathieson Chemical Co., Sealright Corporation, Southwest Forest Industries, and Ford Motor Company, and then he lived in Denver for the Packaging Corporation. He enjoyed farming, motorcycles, and antique cars.

He was a member of the Roger E. Sherman Masonic Lodge in Kansas City, KS, and a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. Through the five years of the disease, Bill was noted for his wit and humor.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Betty Lou and Dorothy Clevenger; and a son, Curtis Clevenger.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Erma; a daughter, Kimberly McClain of Plattsburg; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 1, at the Hamilton Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Southpoint Cemetery in Orrick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Hamilton Baptist Church.
