Willouise Lile Parker

Willouise Lile Parker was born on Feb. 10, 1924, in Braymer, MO. She was the only child of George Reed (Pete) Lile and Eunice Verlee Kepley Lile. Willouise graduated from Cowgill High School and that was where she met the love of her life, Frank L. Parker. They married in Kansas City on Nov. 20, 1942.

Frank and Willie had their first daughter, Judith Lile, on March 7, 1944. After the war, Frank and Willie moved to Osawatomie, KS in October, 1945. They had two more daughters, Susan born Sept. 7, 1948, and Louann (Ann) born March 17, 1956. Willie worked at Jacobson’s Hardware, later as a clerk in the City Hall and then for the School District as the school food director, until she retired.

Frank and Willie built their dream log house at Pomme De Terre Lake in Pittsburgh in 1987. They lived there until Frank fell ill and they had to move to Richmond to be closer to family. After Frank passed, Willie lived in Spring Hill, where she made many friends and enjoyed her bible studies and card games and lunches at the Senior Center. Willie lived at Brookdale Place for three years, where she enjoyed the social atmosphere there and made many more friends.

Willie was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed sewing and knitted many Afgans. Willie also spent thousands of hours working on the family genealogy. The family has volumes of pictures and information thanks to her. Frank and Willie were avid RVrs. They traveled the United States and talked about their trip to Alaska for hours. She was a member of the Christ Chapel in Polo. Willie was a member of the DAR and the Ray County Historical Society in Richmond.

Willie passed away on Feb. 2, at Villa St. Francis, where she was being cared for. The nurses and staff loved her and said she would always have a smile for them.

Willie (she didn’t like the name Willouise), you will be missed but never forgotten. “UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN….WE LOVE YOU.”

She is survived by three daughters, Judith Housh (David) of Polo, Suzi Bumgarner (Richard) of Olathe, KS, and Ann Sinclair (Glen) of Spring Hill, KS; ten grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the Christ Chapel in Polo. A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will be in the Highland Cemetery in Hamilton following the services. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Brookdale Hospice.
