Letter to the Editor:

Did you know that in accordance the city ordinances in Kidder that you may be considered in violation of the city Vehicles Ordnance and that the city can come and seize your property impound it, fine, and take you to court for anything as simple as a flat tire or broken window! Did you know that this ordnance applies to “Any machine or portion of a machine designed for travel along the surface of, the ground or water, included but not limited to motor vehicles, trailers, buggies, watercraft, tractors, and riding lawn mowers.”
Did you know that you are REQUIRED, to have electricity, water, and city sewer running to your house even if it is vacant not being used? Did you know that if you FAIL to pay the city whatever price they decide for sewer, that they will come to your house dig up your yard and install a disconnect to the sewer and charge you 500 dollars, plus late fees and past due charges even for times when no one lived there. Did you know that the city of Kidder charges you, two months late, a sewer bill based on information that they collected years ago and that they have no idea how much you should be charged?
Did you know that to build any building in town or to make improvements on your land you need a permit approved by the Code Enforcement Officer; do you know who that is? Do you know how to contact them? Do you know what a Permit is required for? Do you know what is required to submit a request for a permit? That's okay, most do not at least till they start building and the Code Enforcement Officer shows up to fine you.
Did you know that some members of the Aldermen Board are actively working through changes in the city ordinances and increases in fees to force business, they personally do not like, out of town?
Here is your chance to make a difference. Kidder will be electing their Mayor and two Aldermen in April, HOWEVER, if you are interested in running you have till 17 Jan 2017 to add your name to the running. REQUIREMENTS TO RUN: 18 years old, Citizen of the USA, Live in the city for one year prior to the election, and a resident in city at the time of filing. If you are interested and/or you know someone that is interested in “Making Kidder Great again” CONTACT: Richards Evans the City Clerk at (816)-575-2417 or (816)-284-0609.
