Tell It Like It Is

Fellow Americans,

In the June 21, 2018 edition of the Citizen Observer newspaper, I read Pam King’s letter to the editor about our immigration problem.  In her letter, Ms. King blamed President Trump for the family separation on the southern border, citing his “horrifying” and “evil” mistreatment of immigrant children.  I politely and respectfully disagree with Ms. King’s letter for the following reasons:

* Ms. King accused President Trump of using the children as pawns to get his border wall.  Trump is simply enforcing federal immigration laws that already exist; ones that past presidents like Obama have ignored!  This is not Trump’s personal policy, it is federal law.  According to Article 2, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, the president shall see that the laws are faithfully executed.  People who disagree with existing federal laws should work through Congress to change them, not ignore them!

* Ms. King wrote about the immorality of separating immigrant families.  Too bad she failed to mention the immorality of abortion and inner city gang violence, both of which tragically separate families forever.

* Ms. King indicated this is a human rights issue and incorrectly placed the blame on the president, instead of on the people who are trying to illegally break into our country!  When a private residence gets broken into, is the burglar or homeowner to blame?

* Ms. King claimed the enforcement of immigration laws was harmful to immigrant families.  How can that be when we provide them with food, medicine, shelter, clothing, and safety AFTER they illegally enter into our country?

I agree with a few things Ms. King wrote in her letter, such as her statement, “Compassion, truth, and decency must be the measuring stick by which we measure ourselves.”   America is the most compassionate and decent country on earth contrary to what some people claim!  We don’t abuse illegal immigrants.  We don’t rape or torture them like some governments do.  We simply ask them to come to our country legally and with good intentions.  Why is that unreasonable?

President Trump was elected (by “deplorables”) to strengthen our borders and secure our country.  As long as President Trump and Congress follow the Constitution, America will continue to be great!  Please do your own homework and use common sense to see the truth for yourself.  May God bless you and the United States of America!
