GRTS students shine at Skills USA districts

On Friday, Feb. 15, 2016, approximately 100 juniors, seniors, and post-secondary students competed at SkillsUSA District competition hosted by Grand River Technical School in Chillicothe. The students competed in technical information, leadership, and skill contests relevant to career and technical education. Many competed in their program areas while others stepped out of their comfort zones to compete in speech or demonstration contests. Of the students that competed at districts, approximately 47 are advancing to state competition held March 31st - April 2nd at State Technical College in Linn, MO.

Current or former students from Penney High School that qualified for state are:

Jeremy Maudlin, 1st Auto Service Technology

Mattie Hibler, 2nd Nursing Assisting, 3rd Opening and Closing Ceremony

Jayln Moon, 2nd Health Knowledge Bowl, 3rd Opening and Closing Ceremony
