Latroy Sets School Record in High Jump at Lathrop

Latroy Harper high jumped 6'-6" to set a new Penney High School record in the event last week in the Lathrop Quad Meet which included the host Mules, Lawson, and Plattsburg.

Latroy knocked Tim Hasse (1981) and Clayton DeVaul (2004), who both jumped 6'-4", from the record book.

Other Hornets finishing in the top spot in their events included Derek Dixon in the 400 m. dash with a time of 54.04, and Brock Swindler in the triple jump with a distance of 42'-2". Korby Ford placed 4th in the 100 m. (12.17), Derek Dixon 2nd in the 200 m. dash (25.19), Wesley Pratt 3rd in the high jump (5'-10"), Telly Harper 5th in the high jump (5'-6"), Latroy Harper 2nd in the long jump (18'-5.75"), Telly Harper 3rd in the triple jump (40'-9"), Noah Daul 5th in both the shot put (36'-8") and the discus throw (95'-11.5"). The 4x100 m. relay team of Latroy Harper, Wes Pratt, Korby Ford, and Brock Swindler (47.26) and the 4x200 m. relay team of Derek Aiken, Andy Ernat, Justin Knudsen, and Michael Roberts (1:47.55) each placed 2nd.

Penney High also placed 3rd (Darin Bradley, Crayton Crawford, Derek Dixon, Jaran Richman) and 4th (Andy Ernat, Wes Pratt, Michael Roberts, Cale Whitt) in the 4x800 m. relay with times of 9:27.27 and 9:59.52. Caitlin Hoak led the girls with a 2nd place finish in the 1600 m. run with a time of 6:35.21.

Jessica Noble placed 3rd in the 800 m. run (2:51.87), Hailyn Park placed 4th in the 800 m. run (2:57.76), Ellie McFall placed 5th in the shot put (29'-1"), and the 4x800 m. relay team of Sydney Bottorff, Caitlin Hoak, Alexys Marshall, and Jessica Noble placed 3rd with a time of 11:44.21.
