Polo loses a close game to Trenton 26-27

So close, yet so far away.

Once again some mistakes throughout the game and a slow start hurt the Panthers. We had a broken coverage and then fumbled the ensuing kickoff which lead to a 14-point deficit two and a half minutes into the game. From that point on our kids did show a lot of courage and determination. We played our best game of defense in more than two years and forced a good flex bone team into some bad situations.

After cutting the lead to 14-12 at half we went on a good run in the third quarter and on our first possession of the fourth quarter. A turnover and a couple of 4th down completions led to a go ahead touchdown for Trenton with 7 seconds left in the game.

I am very proud of how hard my kids played against a quality opponent. The bottom line is we lost the game, however we gained a ton of ground defensively by changing some personnel. We still ran the ball for 420 yards and to go along with around 50 yards in the air, so the offense is still being productive, minus the turnovers and the defense is continuing to improve. We want to be playing our best football at the end of the season and I believe that we are taking steps to doing just that.
