Paul Dwain Gentry

Paul Dwain Gentry, 83, of Tipton, MO and formerly of New Franklin passed away May 12, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.  Paul was known by friends and family as Tall Paul.

He was born in Hamilton, MO on May 19, 1941, and was the son of the late William Emil and Helen Elizabeth Clark Gentry.   He was a 1959 graduate of New Franklin High School.  Tall Paul was the owner and operator of the Sports Shop in New Franklin for many years where he hosted the breakfast round table.  He had also been employed with the Clay County Sheriff's and the Boonville Police Departments.  His family remembers him as being generous to others, willing to share what he had to help others.  Paul was a talented singer and guitarist and enjoyed listening to country and gospel music.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.  Most important of all, in Paul’s final days despite his memory issues, he never forgot his Lord’s love for him or his love for his Lord.

Survivors include his children, Donnie Liebl, Sheila Gentry and Paula Powers; a brother, Ronald Gentry; a sister, Joyce Brundage; a half-sister, Carolyn Dowdy; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A family burial will take place at a later date Highland Cemetery in Hamilton, MO.
